First ELEVATE Program Cohort Kicks off

Last week, the first-of-its-kind ELEVATE Program launched with five wrestlers. In this email, we’ll let you know what they experienced, and what you could too if you’re accepted into a future cohort.

Goals, Inspiration, Strengths and Weaknesses

Before Christmas, the first Cohort was asked to complete a questionnaire that helped Joe and Dave better understand their goals and inspirations as wrestlers, and what they felt was standing in their way of achieving their potential..

These goals ranged from:

  • Working for PROGRESS Wrestling

  • Wrestling in the country of their birth

  • Improving in-ring fitness so character work doesn’t suffer

  • Getting signed by WWE

The questionnaire explored their wrestling influences and what they felt could help them breakout onto the UK and International scene

The Kick-off

Last week, Dave and Joe met all members of Cohort 1 to discuss their questionnaire to make sure they had clearly understood what the participant wanted to achieve with the program and where they needed to focus.

Each session was recorded, transcribed and sent to the participant after the call. Actions were assigned and areas of improvement documented.

This will become key as the program progresses to make sure that each participant is held accountable to the actions and feedback they’re given.

Coaching Plan

Within a few days, each participant received a full coaching plan tailored specifically to their questionnaire submission and the kick-off conversation.

WhatApp Groups have been set-up and it’s exciting to see dozens of actions already been ticked off by the participants.

Coming up in Week 2

Match Reviews

Joe will be meeting each participant to review and provide feedback on one of their matches. The feedback will be added into the coaching plan and built upon over the next 6 weeks.

Joe already has pages worth of notes to share (he’s a pen and paper guy).

First Contact Meetings

Several of the participants have their first meeting with one of their chosen contacts including Jakk Sellstrom, Rampage Brown, Saxon Huxley, Martin Kirby and Kanji.

Ahead of each session, Joe and Dave will provide conversation starters to guide the participant and contact to get the most out of the meeting.

After the session, feedback will be added into the coaching plan and incorporated into informing match reviews and fitness plans.

Accountability Calls

All participants will get a call from Dave over next weekend to check in how they’re doing.

Have they made all of their workouts? What feedback did they get from the match reviews? What match over the weekend can they implement that feedback?
